Spectatorship

Dance-performance collaboration
You see a young man wearing a black turtleneck and what appears to be a silver metallic legging. He speaks into a large wireless microphone in his right hand. He gesticulates with hi
You see a stage littered with black props. Different kinds of plastic, a chair overturned, a mixing desk… The ballet floor is white as is the wall that is erected in the back. In the background two characters are wearing black latex masks. One of them is walking towards the centre.

Eric Schrijver was the resident artist in this performance by choreographer Bruno Listopad. He performed a monologue for emancipated spectators. The dancers engaged in a ‘making strange’, questioning whether passive spectatorship is actually possible. Spectatorship was produced by Korzo productions and toured the Netherlands.
